When you remember me, am I smiling? A photographer who discovers she is losing her eyesight returns to her childhood residence and embarks on a wistful journey of the difficult times during WWII. Minako had lost her brother to the war, food was scarce and living was tough. A place once full of life and energy has witnessed the price of war as it takes its toll, changing the childrenfs lives forever. Hiroshi Sugawara
Hiroshi Sugawara started his filming career in 1981 after graduating from film studies with cum laude at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Returning to Japan, he made his directorial debut with Seven Days of War (1988) winning him a Japanese Academy Award.
Sugawarafs most recent success includes Fireflies: River of Light (2003).
