Minoru Kawasaki
(Director of Executive Koala & Monster X Strikes Back)
Growing up in Tokyo during the 1960s, Minoru Kawasaki is the son of a blowfish restaurant owner. A director, screenwriter and producer, Kawasaki specialises in turning mangas into live-action movies.
At 18, he completed his first short film, Futo (1977) involving a giant tofu monster and more recently a giant calamari in The Calamari Wrestler (2004).
He has contributed to the popular Ultraman Tiga series, shot many TV dramas and variety shows and is considered to be the number one Japanese director of off-the-wall comedies.
