Returning to his hometown after his orchestra disbands, the cellist Daigo is in search of a new life, a new job and a new direction. To everyone’s horror, he finds himself working in a mortuary, surrounded by the deceased. Everyday, he prepares the departed for the afterlife with delicate ritualistic care. Daigo finds the balance he has been searching for all along, the discovery of life through death.
